Honoring Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In his 1963 Letter from a Birmingham Jail, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said,

"In a real sense all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be...This is the inter-related structure of reality."

Today, January 18, 2021, we honor the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This past weekend, during the sermon she delievered at Adas Israel Congregation's MLK Shabbat Service, the JCRC's Rabbi Abbi Sharofsky observed, "As we begin the 21st year of the 21st century, history is unfolding before us, we are at a time in our nation when unity and allyship must prevail. We must use our words to advocate for equity and justice, to speak out, and follow through on the promises to truly be allies. We must do this now."

The movement for justice begins with our children. Join the JCRC in supporting educational equity for Montgomery County Public Schools' most vulnerable children.
