Take Action Now! URGE MOCO COUNCIL TO PASS ANTISEMITISM RESOLUTION

The Montgomery County Council will vote on Tuesday, November 1st at 12:00 PM on a nonbinding resolution, with clarifying language, condemning all manifestations of antisemitism.  The resolution affirms the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition, which is the gold standard, and since 2005 has been used and/or adopted by the United Nations, the Organization of American States, the European Union, the Obama, Trump and Biden Administrations, and the official bodies representing Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox Jewry.  The resolution calls for the definition to be used as an educational tool and confirms First Amendment protections
 
It is important that members of the Jewish community and our allies encourage Councilmembers to vote for the resolution. They need your support and appreciation since they are under enormous pressure from opponents who want to defeat this measure. We ask you to do two things, to make sure it is approved:

Attend the Council session in person on Tuesday, November 1 at 11:00 AM (vote is scheduled for noon, but may come up earlier). It is important that there is a significant crowd to demonstrate support and appreciation for this resolution. Please act civilly and respectfully.  The Council is located at 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD, with entry under the green awning. Public parking is available at the corner of E. Jefferson St. & Monroe St. Give yourself an extra fifteen minutes to park and walk over and join us. Opponents of this resolution have been relentlessly emailing Councilmembers encouraging them to vote against this resolution. Even if you have already done so, please send an email to your Councilmembers and urge them to vote in support of the nonbinding resolution with clarifying language that will be considered by Council on Tuesday.
